Do you remember travel? I'm not talking about the grocery store or a park. I mean hopping on a plane, shoulder to shoulder with strangers, hurtling across the globe to some foreign destination? Do you miss eating miscellaneous meat from a Dutch vending machine? How about laughing at some over-the-top play on Broadway? Or rowing a boat up to a haunted doll island in Mexico?
Okay, maybe the last one is just something I want to do?
But we can both agree that one of the biggest issues with travelling is the cost. It costs so much to get out of Canada. It costs so much to even fly from Regina to Saskatoon. Did you know in the UK they have penny flight sales? A penny! You can fly from London to Madrid for one-fifth the cost of a five-cent candy. Unbelievable.
I can't get you deals that sweet, but I can get you some pretty good ones. Imagine, for a moment, Toronto to Guatemala, for one week, for only $300. That's a round-trip price. How about Calgary to London for $523 for two weeks? Usually, that costs around $900.
But there is a little hiccup. I live in Regina, and there is a good chance you do too. As much as we both love Regina, there's no flight deals coming out of here. There's nothing I can do about that. But there are deals coming out of Saskatoon, and I'll happily drive two and a half hours if it means saving $500+ per ticket on my next flight.
So how can you get these deals? You'll want to check out Dollar Flight Club. It's a quick, free website where you can enter your airport and they'll alert you when they find cheap flights leaving your airport. These trips are three, four, and even five months from now, but that gives you time to prepare. As a former travel agent, it's nice when you find a sweet deal departing in four days, but it's not so nice to book that time off work. Now you don't have to worry about that.
But, I'll be honest here. As somebody who not only loves travel (and hates spending money), I usually shy away from sites like this. I don't need help booking a ticket. I can do it myself. I've done it a thousand times before. So have you. But Dollar Flight Club doesn't book it for you. It isn't a travel agent that is trying to make a sale. Instead, it aggregates flight pricing data to look for outliers and automatically helps you find cheap flights. It does all the work for you and doesn't expect a commission, and I'm all for that.
Additionally, Dollar Flight Club is free. There is a premium version for $5.75 a month ($69 a year), but the free one works great for international flights. However, I find the real deal about the premium version is the discounted domestic flights. Like I said, flights within Canada are crazy stupid expensive. It's cheaper to fly Calgary to London than it is to fly Regina to Calgary. But it doesn't have to be that way. With Dollar Flight Club, I can go from Calgary to Ottawa for $105. I can tell you with complete honesty I have spent more on breakfast than that.
Dollar Flight Club is easy, quick, free and can save you hundreds of dollars on your next flight. Although I can't book any trips right now, I am dreaming of it, and thanks to Dollar Flight Club, I'll get a little ding in my inbox when it's time to go. Now I can focus on planning a dream trip, and not worry about how I'm going to pay for it. To me, the idea of travelling again, plus saving money, makes using Dollar Flight Club completely worth it.
